Ready or not, more rain could fall Wednesday

Showers are thunderstorms are again a possibility for the metro-east Wednesday after nearly two inches of rain already this week left local creeks and rivers swollen and lawns soggy.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40 percent chance of rain Wednesday with the most likely time for a storm coming after 1 p.m. The high temperature is expected to reach 78 degrees.

A total of about 1.25 inches of rain fell in the Scott Air Force Base area Monday. On Tuesday the area got another .61 inches of rain during afternoon storms.

For Thursday, a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms is forecast with the most likely time for a shower again coming after 1 p.m. The high temperature will be 83.

Sunny weather is expected to finally return Friday when the high temperature will reach 82.
