Vacation Bible schools planned

WILKERSON CHAPEL: Preschool students to adults can take part in a "fun-filled" Vacation Bible School from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Wilkerson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 640 S. 19th St. in Belleville.

Activities will include crafts, games, snacks and Bible training. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. The church is at 640 S. 19th St.

FIRST BAPTIST MARYVILLE: Children are invited to become Agency D3 Special Agents during this year's Vacation Bible School.

Sessions will be held July 20-25 for age 4 through grade 5 and July 20-24 for grades 6-8.

Activities will range from "awesome worship" to crazy, fun games and meaningful Bible studies.

ST. PAUL UCC: St. Paul United Church of Christ will host Workshop of Wonders Vacation Bible School from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 23-27.

King's Brass to perform in Salem

Tim Zimmerman and the King's Brass will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Salem.

The concert is sponsored by the Southern Illinois Homecoming Gospel Choir.

Now in its 36th season, Tim Zimmerman and the King's Brass presents an upbeat instrumental workshop experience for the whole family. The band will perform southern spirituals, classic hymns, gospel songs, contemporary praise and worship music, patriotic songs and popular American music.

Shrine will hold healing service

Everyone is welcome to a healing and prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

The service is not a Mass, and participants need not be Catholic.

Church to clean up stretch of highway

First United Presbyterian Church will sponsor a clean-up for 1 mile along Illinois 161.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. June 21 in the church parking lot at 1303 Royal Heights Road in Belleville.

Trash bags, safety vests and water will be provided. Wear good walking shoes.

Church serves jazz with sundaes

Faith Lutheran Church in O'Fallon will host Jubilant Jazzfest on June 21.

Gathering music by Twilight will begin at 6:45 p.m. That will be followed by the concert at 7 p.m. with Jubilant Jazz, Dixieland Delight, Twilight, Faithful Flutes, Faith's Choir, Women's Quartet and Don Schafer and Becky Filkins.

The public is invited to enjoy ice cream sundaes with their jazz. A freewill offering will be collected for Kids Against Hunger.

Winery is site of Theology on Tap

The Rev. Ben Stern will lead a session of Theology on Tap from 2 to 3:30 June 22 at Liberty Courtyard Winery in Evansville.

He will examine the contributions of Blaise Pascal and Soren Kierkegaard, two "unique" Christians.

The session promises to be full of humor, intellectual stimulation and fellowship.
