News-Democrat advertising rep named salesperson of the year

News-Democrat advertising representative Leonard Wolf has been selected as the Illinois Press Association Salesperson of the Year.

Wolf was honored Thursday at the IPA's annual awards banquet, where other News-Democrat advertising staff members also were recognized.

Beth Wiesemann won first place in the best media rich online ad category for an advertisement for the Belleville Animal Clinic. One of the judges said that it was "one of the best rich media ads I have ever seen. Clearly No. 1." Wiesemann also won third place in the same category. She also earned second for best classified ad, third place for best full-page ad and honorable mention for best rich media online ad.

Chad Jones won first place for best holiday ad designer for "Columbia Witches Night Out," which judges said was a "good use of artwork to promote the theme." Jones also earned honorable mention for best ad designer.

Paige Baumgartner took first place in best annual special section category for Readers Choice. A judge said they "especially like the logo element carried through the pages."

Denise Rollberg placed second in the best ongoing special section category and third for best community focus special section.

Rollberg, Jones and Jamie Phelps won first place for best shared page/signature page.

Erin Rinderer earned honorable mention for best spot color ad.
