Obama earned the criticism

June 15, 2014

I would like to respond to the Sound-off caller who made allegations of partisanship on the D-Day 70th anniversary. The caller's assertion was unsupported.

The caller said that a disgruntled Republican criticized President Obama. The caller's final comment was: "Even on a day like D-Day, he had to criticize our president."

Obama not only warranted criticism but his presidency is also a sign of the times. What president or other national leader would have traded five top-level enemy prisoners for a possible military deserter in 1944? The people of this nation would not have tolerated it then and it is shameful that they do so now.

Looking back on the events of 1944 and comparing that time period to today indicates a nation in decline. We might as well face it.
