Wrong day for politics

June 16, 2014

What a shame that, on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied France, you chose to print a letter by Gary Duff politicizing the sacrifices of the thousands who were killed that day and the thousands who were wounded.

It was a day for Americans and others to come together and consider the grim events of June 6, 1944, and to honor those who served.

Duff could have expressed his hatred of President Obama in other ways and at other times, but instead he cheapened the dead and survivors of D-Day by dragging them into 21st century political squabbles.

Is there no topic safe from the true believers?
