Brewers' ad: 'The best catcher in baseball plays in Milwaukee'

News-DemocratJune 18, 2014

Here is the text of the ad the Milwaukee Brewers have posted in support of the All-Star Game candidacy of catcher Jonathan Lucroy:

(The first portion is spoken by an announcer as St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and Lucroy appears on the screen. When Molina appears, there are sounds of a baby crying behind the announcer's voice).

"Yadier Molina is a great catcher, but did you know that he plays for the St. Louis Cardinals? That's right, the St. Louis Cardinals. Do you want another St. Louis Cardinal to star in an All-Star Game? Isn't there a better way?

"There is.

"Jonathan Lucroy is not only the best catcher in the National Leaguer, but, most importantly, he's not a St. Louis Cardinal. So this year, make your voice heard. Cast a ballot for change.

"Cardinals fans need to know that enough is enough. Status quo no longer flies. The best catcher in baseball plays in Milwaukee. Vote Jonathan Lucroy."

As the ad ends, Lucroy appears in uniform in the Brewers clubhouse, and says:

"I'm Jonathan Lucroy, and I approved this message."
