News-DemocratJune 19, 2014

Matt Mevert picked up the $1,500 top prize last Friday at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville for winning the UMP Modifieds 100-lap feature race held in honor of longtime track announcer Mike Meurer.

Brian Bielong had the early lead with Rusty Griffaw and Mevert giving chase. A flat tire spoiled Bielong's chances and Mevert went on to win, followed by Dean Hoffman, Griffaw and Dennis Ponder.

It was Mevert's first Belle-Clair win this season.

Kerry Gaultney grabbed the lead on Lap 3 of the UMP Late Model feature and never looked back, winning his first Belle-Clair feature of 2014 in his first attempt. Jim Gibson was second and Matt Weidner was third.

Marc McClintock won the Pure Stock feature and Joey Wirth won the Micro Sprints.
