Off the beat: Vietnam vet fired from Cracker Barrel after giving away muffin

June 30, 2014

A 75-year-old Vietnam War veteran claims he was fired from his job at Cracker Barrel in Venice, Fla. for giving a needy man condiments and a corn muffin.

According to WWSB, Joe Koblenzer said he’s worked there for about three years, greeting customers at the entrance. Koblenzer said a man who appeared to be homeless came in asking for mayonnaise and tartar sauce. He gave the condiments to the man, along with a muffin.

He then received notice from his manager that he was fired.
