Heat advisory issued for metro-east

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Monday across the metro-east.

The advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. thanks to a heat index that is expected to reach 105 degrees due to a high temperature of 94 and humidity of 94 percent.

Skies are expected to be cloudy through the mid morning hours, after which they'll begin to clear. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms with wind gusts of up to 24 mph.

The chance of thunderstorms will increase to 50 percent Monday night into Tuesday morning, with a low of 73. The best chance for storms will come after 1 a.m.

The chance of storms will diminish to 20 percent during the daytime hours Tuesday and the high temperature will be more pleasant as a cooling trend takes over. The high will be 87.

On Wednesday the high will be 81 with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms and on Thursday skies will be mostly sunny with a high of 78.
