The suspected armed robber of TitleMax in Fairview Heights, who was captured by a police SWAT team Saturday in Belleville, has been charged with three felonies in connection with the robbery.

Darius T. Thompson, 22, of 5 Pheasantwood, Apt. D. in Belleville, faces three felony counts of armed robbery, according to Fairview Heights Police. Thompson allegedly demanded cash from employees at the TitleMax office at 10226 Lincoln Trail, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash about 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Following an 8-hour standoff, SWAT members of the Belleville/St. Clair County Special Response Team captured Thompson after using a battering ram attached to an armored vehicle to force open the door of his apartment at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged Thompson on Monday. Thompson was in custody Monday at the Fairview Heights Police Department and was to appear before a St. Clair County judge Monday for arraignment.
