Health focus group seeks metro-east volunteers

News-DemocratJuly 8, 2014

The Illinois Department of Public Health is looking for volunteers for a maternal health focus group.

Clients of women and child health programs, concerned citizens and representatives of community-based organizations are invited to participate in the focus group from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Windsor Health Center, 100 N. Eighth St., East St. Louis.

The information received from community focus groups will be used to complete Illinois' Title-V Needs Assessment, which is completed for the Department of Health and Human Services and designed to serve as a guiding document for the state to prioritize maternal and child health needs for the next five years.

The community's perspective is needed for Illinois to create an effective plan to reduce health challenges facing women and children, according to Paula Brodie, of the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation.

If you would like more information or to volunteer for the focus group, call Brodie at 332-0953, ext. 140.
