Railroad crossing repairs disrupt some traffic

July 8, 2014

Green Mount Road is open again at the Southern Railroad crossing between Illinois 161 and Lebanon Avenue in Shiloh.

Nofolk Southern Railroad representative Robin Chapman said the railroad did resurfacing and paving work at the crossing, and finished it Tuesday.

Similar work will be done along the tracks at Illinois 159 starting July 21. The railroad will provide a marked detour and expects, Chapman said. The work to take one to two days.

A news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation said the road closures will last from 8 a.m. Monday, July 21 through Wednesday, July 23.
