Making the Grade

• Two 2014 graduates of O’Fallon Township High School are among seven metro-east students sharing $21,000 in scholarship awards given out by New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church in O'Fallon. Raychael Baker received the $2,500 Minister Sheila Renee Swygert Memorial Scholarship.She will attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. And, Lauren Reeves received the $2,000 Life Changer Scholarship. She will attend McKendree University in Lebanon. Over the 11 years New Life has awarded the scholarships, it has given more than $168,000 to graduating seniors.

• Travis Fleming of Shiloh has been named to the dean’s list at Logan University in St. Louis for the spring 2014 trimester. To qualify for the list, a student must achieve at least a 3. grade point average or above while enorlled in a regular, full-time schedule of classes.

• Vince M. Gonski of O’Fallon received a bachelor of arts in psychology from Boston University in May.

• Erik McCullough of O’Fallon is among the students recognized for academic achievement during the 2014 spring semester at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must be full-time and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

• Shelby Lynn Ross, daughter of Robin Ross of O’Fallon and the late William Ross, received her bachelor of arts degree in communication and information sciences, with a minor in film, during spring commencement exercises at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. (there are pix of these two girls)

• Morgan and Marla Schulte of O’Fallon have been named to the dean’s list at McKendree University in Lebanon for the spring semester of 2014. Each also has been awarded All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Academic Honors in softball. The daughters of Kristy and Ryan Schulte, Morgan is a 2011 graduate of O’Fallon Township High School and Marla is a 2012 graduate of OTHS.

• Emily Turk of O’Fallon received her bachelor of science degree from Bradley Universityin Peoria, Ill., during commencement ceremonies on May 17.

• The following O’Fallon students have been named to the spring 2014 dean’s list at Southern Illinois University Cardondale: Allson C. Belter, Jordan A. Cox, CraShanda L. Hubbard, Stephanie B. Hunsche, Jessica N. Manera, Matthew J. Munie, Janelle M. Nikola, Michael W. O’Malley, Sarah Rautio and Alex K. Simons.

• The following local students gradauted from Southern Illinois University Cardondale during the spring 2014 semester: O’Fallon: Blake R. Arnold, Brent M. Gravois, Lauren E. Hale, Nicholas S. Johnson, Matthew J. Munie, Michael E. Nowak, Talia A. Reed and Robert E. Tammaro. Shiloh: James Burger and Richard J. Simms.
