A 51-year-old Lebanon man is facing charges in connection with a traffic crash that killed his wife.

St. Clair County prosecutors charged Todd A. Barnett with reckless homicide, a class 3 felony, and aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol causing death, a class 2 felony.

The charges stem from a one-car crash on Jan. 24 on Interstate 64 in East St. Louis.

A passenger in Barnett's vehicle, identified as Julie A. Barnett, 54, died as a result of injuries suffered during the crash. She is survived by two children.

Barnett voluntarily surrendered Thursday night at the O'Fallon Police Department, was processed, posted the required 10 percent of his $40,000 bail and was released.

Illinois State Police investigated the crash.
