City officials believe nearly 200 homes sold in O’Fallon, including foreclosures, were not included when the county approved a state formula increasing property taxes more than 4 percent this year.
The exclusion has raised the ire of O’Fallon officials and residents who have seen property taxes raise an average of nearly 40 percent in the past five years.Nearly 1,500 home owners in O’Fallon may pay more in property taxes this year than their home is actually worth, according to figures collected from the state.

The O’Fallon Police Department is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for vandalizing Thoman Park Sunday night. O’Fallon Police Detective David Matevey said someone spray painted sidewalks, playground equipment, grass, benches, sculptures and a pavilion.
O'Fallon's first dog park opened Saturday morning at Rock Springs Park in O'Fallon. The creation of the park served as 14-year-old Trevor Lear's Eagle Scout Project. Lear, along side other Boy Scout and church youth group volunteers, spent over 500 volunteer hours completing the project.
