O’Fallon District 90 has begun a search for its next superintendent.
Current Superintendent Nancy Gibson, Ph.D., the district’s top administrator since July 2004, has announced her plans to retire at the end of the 2010 fiscal year in July. Her retirement will bring to an end a nearly 46 year career in education.
The position opening has been posted and interested candidates are asked to submit resumes by the end of December. The District 90 school board hopes to interview candidates in February.
The district will use the services of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to develop a job description for the position, prepare a brochure to distribute to likely candidates, advertise the position, screen applicants and submit a list of at least the top five candidates for the board to interview.
A Highland native, Gibson is a 1960 graduate of St. Paul High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in elementary education at the University of Illinois. She also earned a doctorate in education administration and foundations (philosophy) from Illinois State University at Normal.
