Four Granite City residents were charged Tuesday with felony arson.
The four were taken into custody after the Madison County Sheriff's Department responded to a car fire at 10:55 p.m. Monday in the 4900 block of Carl St. in Granite City, Capt. Brad Wells stated in a news release.
"A witness provided a suspect vehicle description to Sheriff's deputies and indicated multiple people were in the vehicle after a fire was started in the victim's vehicle," Wells stated.
A deputy stopped the suspect vehicle at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on West Chain of Rocks Road at St. Thomas Road.
The individuals charged were: Michael T. Kapp, 21, of 2223 Edwards St.; Jeanette M. Mahaney, 26, of 2838 Washington Ave.; Lisa L. Maze, 27, of 2304 Miracle Ave. and Eric D. Pack, 21, of 2223 Edwards St.
The victim said she used to have a relationship with Pack.
Each are being held at the county jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. The warrant was signed by Judge Janet Heflin.
