Belleville Police chase suspect, end pursuit in East St. Louis

At least seven Belleville Police cars were involved in a chase Wednesday morning on Illinois 15 to Interstate 255 which they ended when the fleeing car turned on to State Street in East St. Louis.

The suspect fled after an officer tried to make a traffic stop for speeding at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The pursuit was apparently terminated for safety reasons.

Additional details were not immediately available.
