Larry Thomason said he gets so much satisfaction from volunteering legal work for the less privileged that he doesn't need awards but he still will be pleased to accept the Robert B. Teitelman Distinguished Service Award from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri on Thursday.

Thomason, 39, lives in St. Louis but works three days a week for Kaskaskia Engineering Group in Belleville and volunteers his time two days a week for legal services. He can do that because he is both a licensed engineer and a licensed lawyer.

He earned his civil engineering degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and his law degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
