Fairview Heights police were searching Tuesday for a man who attempted to steal a power tool set, then ran to a waiting vehicle whose driver wound up dragging the pursuing security guard.
About 5 p.m., a Lowe’s security guard tried to arrest a man suspected of stealing a power tool set, according to Fairview Heights police. The suspect resisted and got into a waiting car. The driver of the suspect vehicle began to accelerate, dragging the security officer as it fled north on North Illinois Street.
The suspect is described as a white male, mid to late 20’s, about 6 feet, 200 pounds with short light brown hair. He was wearing a white with blue pin striped button down shirt and blue jeans.
The vehicle is described as black late model 2 door Chevrolet Blazer, Extreme Model, with silver striping and Missouri registration plates. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fairview Heights Police Department at 489-2130.
