A Swansea woman cooling off from the summer heat was found dead in a friend's swimming pool Friday afternoon in Shiloh.
Sarah Moore, 55, died from an accidental drowning in a pool in the 700 block of Hunters Court, according to Shiloh Police Assistant Chief Gary McGill.
At 12:48 p.m. police were called to a residence near Greenmount Road where a woman was in distress, McGill said.
The resident of the home had been away from the pool and when she returned, she found her friend unconscious and not breathing.
When police arrived, they began administering CPR. Paramedics arrived and took over performing CPR while transporting the woman to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, McGill said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"Apparently, during the summer --these two ladies are friends -- she comes over several times a week and plays in the pool," McGill explained.
