Public invited to Fairview Heights firefighters, police recognition event Wednesday

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS -- The 10th annual Fairview Firefighters and Municipal Law Enforcement Recognition Night will be held Wednesday.

The F.A.M.L.E. night, sponsored by Citizens United For Fairview, will start at 6:30 p.m. at Moody Park at Longacre.

The event is open to Fairvew Heights residents. Free food and drinks will be provided. For more information, call 277-0127.

"The event gives the firefighters and police officers their night to shine," founding organizer Bev Mattison said. "They get the microphone and they get to talk about the accomplishments of their department."

Officer Josh Hubbard, who was named the Fairview Heights Police Department patrolman of the year, and Ryan Boyd, who was named the Fairview Fire Department firefighter of the year, will both be honored at the event with a trophy and cash prize.

F.A.M.L.E. night started out as part of the National Night Out Against Crime.
