ST. LOUIS -- Former Detroit Red Wings goalie Ty Conklin signed a two-year, $2.6 million deal Wednesday to join the St. Louis Blues.

Conklin, 33, was 25-11-2 for the Red Wings last season and posted six shutouts. He had a 2.51 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.

His NHL career record is 73-43-10 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .90 save percentage. He served as the backup to former Blues goalie Chris Osgood last season as the Wings reached the Stanley Cup Finals before losing to Pittsburgh.

Conklin seems eager to help the Blues, a team that had the best second-half in the NHL last season.

"They piled up a lot of points and passed a lot of teams," he said. "I know the playoffs didn't go quite the way they wanted them to go at the end, but that last couple months I don't think anybody really wanted to play St. Louis."

In 2007-08, he was the backup for the Penguins when they lost to Detroit in the finals.

"Just being part of something like that you learn a lot," Conklin said. "When the team's playing in late May and early June, if you're part of that you gain great experience."

Conklin continues the Blues' collection of ex-Red Wing goaltenders, following Osgood and Manny Legace.
