Lebanon High graduate Neal Cotts, a left-handed reliever with the Chicago Cubs, underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery Thursday and will miss the rest of the season, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.
Surgery on Cotts, who has been pitching for the Cubs' Class AAA Iowa affiliate, was performed by Dr. Timothy Kremchek in Cincinnati.
Cotts, 29, was 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA in 19 games this season with the Cubs. He was optioned to Iowa in June. He was 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 12 games at Iowa and had limited hitters to a .159 average.
