A Shiloh man faces arson charges related to a fire in May at a Belleville apartment building.

Michael W. Thomas, 50, of 3009 E. B St., Apt. D, was charged with aggravated arson and residential arson, said Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax.

Police were called about 11:15 p.m. May 28 to investigate the fire that was reported at 320 W. H St. The building was evacuated while the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured in the blaze, Sax said.

The Belleville Fire Department certified arson dog, Chewy, was called to the scene of the fire, said Belleville Assistant Fire Chief Steve Klinger.

An investigation of the fire was conducted, leading to Thomas' arrest, Sax said.

Thomas remains in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
