A Cottage Hills man was killed in an industrial accident at an East Alton plant Saturday morning.
Michael B. Niswander, 41, died in the industrial accident, which occurred about 10:30 a.m. at Olin Brass, reported the Madison County Coroner's Office.
The coroner's office reported that Niswander was struck in the chest by industrial machinery. Niswander was transported to Alton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced about 50 minutes later.
Company spokeswoman Ann Pipkin said that Niswander was well liked by his co-workers.
"The company expresses its deepest sympathies to his family and friends," Pipkin said.
She also said that counseling services will be available for Olin Brass employees.
An autopsy examination is planned and toxicology tests will be performed. The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration also has been notified.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
