Blues assign Stastny to Peoria

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues assigned center Yan Stastny to minor-league Peoria on Thursday, reducing their roster to 28 players.

Stastny must clear waivers before joining the Rivermen. He also has a one-way contract that pays him $500,000, whether he plays for the Blues, Peoria or another NHL team.

The Blues will play Minnesota tonight in a preseason game, then take on Dallas in Saturday before traveling to Sweden.
