Two metro-east organizations have received Port Security grants for security improvements through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Gateway Terminals, LLC in Sauget will get a $1,405,438 grant and the Tri-City Regional Port District will get a $400,000 grant, U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Belleville, stated in a Wednesday news release.

"These are important economic engines for our area, and the bi-state region is a major transportation and energy hub," Costello stated. "This is important funding that will help ensure the safety of these facilities and the region."
