Godfrey teen charged with residential burglary

A Godfrey teen was charged Monday with felony residential burglary.

Police took Blaine D. Counts, 17, of 1903 E. Jerome Drive, and a juvenile into custody Sunday at about 11:35 a.m. in the 5400 block of Pierce Lane in Godfrey, Madison County Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells stated in a news release.

Counts and the juvenile had removed guns from the residence, Wells stated. The two were found in a yard of a residence when the homeowner came home, and the homeowner stopped them until police arrived. The guns were recovered.

Counts is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. The juvenile will be charged in juvenile court.

The warrant and criminal information was signed by Judge Janet Heflin.
