A special meeting of the Collinsville Area Recreation District Board of Park Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

The special meeting will be held at 4 p.m. at the district office at 10 Gateway Drive in Collinsville.

The meeting agenda will address the adoption of an ordinance to authorize the Collinsville Area Recreation District in St. Clair and Madison counties to issue $8 million in general obligation park bonds and to levy an annual tax to pay for the principal and interest on the bonds.

The $8 million will be used to pay off the interest on bonds issued to the district in 2002. The remainder of the funds will be used by the district to purchase general park maintenance equipment, such as lawnmowers, to build new restrooms at the Willoughby Heritage Farm and Conservation Reserve and begin phase one of the new Pleasant Ridge Park in Maryville, according to Elizabeth Davis, a spokeswoman for the Collinsville Area Recreation District.
