East St. Louis groups sponsor Diabetes Walk on Saturday

An East St. Louis organization has organized a Diabetes Walk on Saturday to raise at least $500 for the cause.

The walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the East St. Louis School District 189 Board of Education Building, 1005 State St. Attendees will walk to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1411 Missouri Ave. in East St. Louis, for workshops and lunch.

The following organizations have partnered to sponsor the event: the Status of Women Committee of the East St. Louis chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction Inc. and its Top Teens of America chapter are partnering with Trinity United Methodist Church, the East St. Louis Board of Education, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the National Council of Negro Women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House and the National Diabetes Association.
