Busch twins finish second and fourth in state cross country; Freeburg places fifth

Freeburg twin sisters Kristen and Caitlin Busch finished second and fourth, respectively, this morning at the Class 1A state championship cross country meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

The Freeburg girls cross country team finished fifth in state with a score of 141. Winnebego was first with 123; St. Teresa of Decatur took second with 127; third was Elmwood with 129; and fourth was Eureka with 135.

Kelly Curran of Bloomington Central Catholic was the first-place runner with a time of 17:46. Kristen Bush was second with 17:49; Tessa Hoefle of Winnebego was third with 18:02; and Caitlin Busch was fourth with 18:07.
