In the past 95 years, not much has changed at St. Louis' Crown Candy Kitchen. Creamy, cold malts and shakes are hand-dipped, bacon is piled high on BLTs, and guests sit at the same white wooden booths and tables.
Hettie Moore started cooking when she was 7 and hasn’t stopped. “I can make barbecue, Chinese-style, German food, anything,” said Hettie, who opened her homestyle cooking restaurant in mid-May at the corner of East Main and Church streets in Belleville.
