Building your first house? Gingerbread house, that is.
If you've been following our video demonstrations and tips at www.bnd.com, then you've come to the point where it's time for the fun stuff: decorating!
The News-Democrat asked Rosmarie Edwards of Swansea to do a little accessorizing with edible goodies on two gingerbread houses build by photographer Derik Holtmann. Rosmarie has won a variety of awards in the Annual Gingerbread Contest in downtown Belleville, including honorable mention last year in the Master's category.
Rosmarie got out her gum drops, royal icing and a handful other colorful candies and food and went to work to help out first-timers look for some inspiration.
You'll find the final demonstration at the above Web site.
And, remember, there is still time to enter the Belleville contest. Deadline to register is Nov. 20, with judging Nov. 21.
With more than $2,500 in prizes given out among five categories, from Masters to Childrens, there is a place for all skills and talents.
Tan fliers with registration forms and information are available at many downtown Belleville businesses, plus you can register online at www.bellevillemainstreet.net/gingerbread.htm.
