Cahokia Police find liquid meth during traffic stop

Cahokia Police found over 100 pounds of liquid methamphetemine in a 1994 Ford pickup truck with California plates.

Chief James Jones said police stopped the vehicle on June 24 in the 100 block of Jerome Street for failing to use a turn signal.

"There were three occupants inside. Our canine dog was in the area. We brought it over to walk around the vehicle. He indicated that some narcotics were inside. An officer checked the vehicle and found more than 100 pounds of liquid meth inside," Jones said.

The street value of the meth is more than $1 million, Jones said.

The three were arrested, questioned and released while the investigation continues, Jones said. They have not been charged.

He said because the illegal drug amount was so much, "We contacted the Drug Enforcement Agency. They assisted us with the investigation," Jones said.
