Let the public in on developer's name

Who wants to build a sports complex in O'Fallon? Apparently someone does. The public knows the location -- a 45-acre tract at the intersection of East Highway 50 and Scott-Troy Road -- and the anticipated size of the complex, 125,000 square feet. But neither Planning and Zoning Director Ted Shekell nor St. Clair County Economic Development Director Terry Beach will release the name the developer.

So much for transparent government.

Shekell said there's nothing to share, that it's all informal at this point. But it's firm enough that the St. Clair County Board agreed to make the site part of an enterprise zone.

If our elected officials are willing to commit sales tax breaks on building materials to a developer, why won't they tell the public who the developer is?
