Gov. Pat Quinn high-fived a toddler at the State Fair. Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner arrived at the fair via his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
For a recent Throw Back Thursday, Congressman Rodney Davis posted a picture of himself at age 15, in his McDonald's uniform, flipping burgers. His election opponent, Ann Callis, posted a picture Wednesday of her daughter, wishing her well as she heads off to her first day of work as a middle-school teacher.
Those kinds of tidbits from the campaign trail -- as well as links to the latest news coverage of the candidates and the issues -- are what you'll find in the BND's new social media aggregator for the 2014 election.
We've got our new CoverItLive widget set up to provide a feed of tweets and Instagram photos from the candidates, journalists, politicos and others. You'll find it at http://www.bnd.com/election.
We hope it will provide you up-to-the-minute information about what the candidates are doing, where they stand on the issues, how to connect with the candidates, and how you can find further information to help you cast an informed vote in November.
It's a work in progress. We'll likely tweak the widget as we go, and hopefully open it up to reader tweets and Facebook posts for major campaign events, such as debates.
How do you like it? We'd love to hear your thoughts on our new tool, as well as your thoughts on how we can better cover the campaigns and the election.
