A 42-year-old East St. Louis man who was working as a security guard at East St. Louis Senior High School was arrested Wednesday night and charged with having sex with a minor.
Isaac "Ike" O. Turner, 5600 Old Missouri Road, was charged Aug. 8 with one count of criminal sexual assault involving a 16-year-old unnamed female victim.
St. Clair County Chief Judge John Baricevic set Bond for Turner at $100,000.
The East St. Louis Police Department received a report of criminal sexual assault involving a security guard in District 189 and a minor. The next day, St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson authorized his deputies to investigate the case. A short time later, Turner became a suspect.
"During the course of the investigation it was learned that Turner worked as a security guard at East St. Louis Senior High School," said Scott Weymouth, chief investigator with St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, said.
St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Hill who is assigned to the U.S. Marshal's Task Force located Turner in the 2000 block of Dublin Drive in Belleville. Turner was taken into custody and booked into the jail.
It was not immediately known how long Turner had been working for District 189, or whether district officials did a background check.
A spokesman for the school district could not be reached for comment.
Watson said he's pleased with the way Investigator Scott Toth handled the investigation. Watson said his administration has made child victims a priority.
"The victim here is juvenile. We want to assure the juvenile and the family that we are doing everything legally that we can do to ensure the safety of children throughout St. Clair County," Watson said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Toth at 825-5776.
