What qualifies you for this position?
“I am a strong supporter of public education and have been active in the district for over 20 years. I believe that strong communities create strong schools, and that working with all stakeholders is vital to building trust and ensuring voters are represented. As a property manager and a realtor, I understand that every successful transaction closes because of open, positive communication. As a school board member, I will translate those skills into representing our entire community’s best interests, communicating openly with stakeholders, and negotiating through the process in order to achieve them.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“Transparency is the top issue. The incumbents have depleted our emergency cash reserves of $7.8 million and taken on $9 million of additional debt without giving taxpayers any voice. That money will be depleted next year, and we don’t know what they will do next. It is past time for the community to be represented in these decisions. I will increase transparency by utilizing simple solutions like creating in-person events and online avenues that allow voters to be more actively involved. I will openly communicate and represent all stakeholders’ concern as we face this budget crisis, and important education changes together.”
