TRAVEL TO ITALY: A free travel seminar for those preparing for a trip to Italy is at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairview Heights Library. The seminar covers practical travel tips and what to expect in the “Bel Paese.”
GERMAN SERVICE: A Good Friday service is celebrated in German at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg. The Rev. Darwin Schraderis the preacher and Lyle Buettner is the reader. Holy Cross Lutheran Ladies Aid serves a luncheon after the service; a free-will offering will be taken.
LINJADI TRIO: The Linjadi Trio performs a free concert called “Spectres” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Southwestern Illinois College’s Schmidt Art Center, 2500 Carlyle Ave. in Belleville. The trio includes Lindsey Miller Jones on violin, James Nacy on cello and Diana Umali on piano. All three perform locally in various groups and have experience teaching music around the country. Nacy has taught cello in Iraq and Lebanon.
ILLINOIS TREKKERS: The walking club meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Care Center, 4315 Memorial Drive in Belleville. The club is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Participants will learn about upcoming walks.

DISASTER TRAINING: Belleville First Assembly of God Church will host free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) disaster preparedness training classes in April. CERT officials will train residents on how to assist victims in the event of a disaster, when the community’s professional emergency responders might be overwhelmed or delayed. The class covers disaster medical assistance, light search and rescue, fire safety, terrorism response and disaster psychology. The four days of training will be from: 7 to 10 p.m. April 17; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 18; 7 to 10 p.m. April 24; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 25 at the church, 900 Fair Oaks Drive in Belleville.
