My love of the written word and a curiosity about everything I encounter led me to a high school journalism class that changed my life. In college, I was editor of the campus newspaper and, years later, returned to newspaper work at a sister paper of the News Democrat. After becoming an empty-nester several years ago, I left the 9-5 work world for a new challenge: getting healthy and fit. Today I enjoy the best of all worlds -- wonderful health, plenty of new challenges, time with my husband and our two adult daughters, and the opportunity to continue doing the writing I so enjoy.

Hello Lipstik Readers! You truly don't know how exciting it is to be the newest Contributing Writer for Lipstik Magazine. I have been a Belleville Resident since the age of 6, even though my husband of almost 23 years doesn't let me claim "Born and Raised in Belleville", only he can claim that title in our home. I have two beautiful girls, ages 19 and 10....so yes ladies, I enjoy both ends of the parenting spectrum! I graduated from Belleville East High School in 1982, attended St. Louis University and I am now attending Lindenwood University in Belleville! Going back to school has been a dream of mine and I finally took the plunge and made it happen. Along with my journalistic aspirations and striving to be the "BEST MOM EVER", I also work as an Independent Contractor for the Walt Disney Company at Radio Disney AM 1260, since I do my best work when I am really busy....sound familiar ladies? Living in the St Louis Metropolitan area has given me so much joy over the years that I decided to make my "comings and goings" inspirational reading for all the Lipstik Readers with a new column entitled "All Around Town". Who knows where I will turn up next or who I will have the pleasure of running into. The Lipstik staff has also given me a wonderful opportunity to live out my life's dream....by becoming the new Movie Critic for the Magazine. Be sure to keep an eye out for the MOVIE MAVEN all over the St. Louis Metropolitan area....you never know which movie I'll be watching or what movie theatre I'll be showing up in next!

Greetings LIPSTIK readers! I am a lifelong resident of Belleville, and have been married for 11 years to the most patient and wonderful man I have ever met. We have two sons, ages 7 and 4, who keep me laughing, and running. I am a proud graduate Belleville East High School and McKendree College.
Journalism began as an extra-curricular activity in high school that blossomed into a career. I have written professionally for newspapers for the past 15 years - the last eight as a BND freelancer. I am always the first one in a crowd to chase a fire truck, so it's safe to say I landed in the right field.
Counting down the days until the next LIPSTIK prints has become a tradition for me, as it's always a blast to write for, and read. So ladies, it's time to lock the men out of the room and indulge in a brand new shade of LIPSTIK!

I'm always looking for a story... a new fitness fad, a strong woman, a fun ladies' night out, or how to be the world's greatest mom (I'm still doing investigative research on that one). I earned my Bachelor's in English from Webster University in 1998, married my high school sweet heart and we established our home in Columbia. I dabbled in technical writing and marketing communications until the birth of my first son, and since then have been fortunate enough to stay home with my boys, now 5 and 3. Writing is the perfect job for me because it allows me to work around school and nap schedules, and to do something that requires more brainpower than it does to make peanut butter and jelly. I am so happy to be a member of the Lipstik team and look forward to each upcoming issue.
