What's out there: Magnets, gadgets and storage containers

Dishwasher magnets: Did somebody forget to run the dishwasher last night? Here's an easy way to remind family members what's clean and what isn't. A Clean/Dirty magnet sign just needs to be flipped around to show the appropriate condition of the glasses, plates, pots and pans inside. It's $1.59 and sold at Eckert's Country Store in Belleville. Look for a bowlful on top of the vintage stove at the front of the store. One would make a clever addition to any kitchen shower gift basket.

Pretty in pink: Girls just want to have fun, but Mom would like it if they'd clean up afterward. These pretty pink storage containers come in a variety of sizes and shapes, all from Marshall's in Fairview Heights. Prices start at $5.99 for the multi-owl patterned bin. The biggest My Stuff container is $16.99.

Colorful gadgets: It's easy to add color to your kitchen without painting or going to a lot of expense. These Core Essential silicone kitchen utensils from Bed, Bath & Beyond in Fairview Heights are two for $10, or $5.99 a piece. The colors shown are all represented in the utensils (some not shown), pot holders and spoon rests. Look for them on the wall of kitchen accessories by the cutting boards.
