A federal grand jury indicted a Fairmont City man on bank robbery charges.
Mario Obryan Wright, 49, robbed the Legends Bank in Bland, Mo., on Aug. 8, according to the indictment filed in St. Louis federal court.
The man walked in wearing a ball cap and dark sunglasses, then set a box on the counter saying it was a bomb and demanded money, witnesses said. The box was empty, police said later. No one was hurt.
Wright was arraigned on the charge Thursday morning.
"I would like to commend the employees of the Legends Bank in Bland, their courage and decisive actions in this case in the apprehension of the accused," said Gasconade County Sheriff Randy Esphorst.
If convicted, Wright faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
