Pinckneyville twins graduate from high school, college at same time

PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. --
A pair of southern Illinois twins aren't letting a thing called high school get in the way of their college education.
Eighteen-year-olds Maddelynn and Alexandria Hawkins will get their associates degrees from Rend Lake Community College a week before they get their diplomas from Pinckneyville Community High School.
Maddy plans to study medicine at Saint Louis University, while Alex expects to follow in her father's footsteps and study dentistry at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
The two amassed plenty of scholarships to help pay the way.
The girls started to earn college credits through Rend Lake the summer after their eighth-grade graduation.
