One dead in East St. Louis shooting

One person died Thursday in a shooting in the 700 block of Summit Avenue.

Dean Darnall, a deputy coroner with the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office, said a 24-year-old male died from a gunshot wound about 3 p.m.

The man’s identity was not immediately being released, pending notification of family members.

Darnall said there were no suspects.

The shooting was being investigated by East St. Louis Police and the Illinois State Police.
