Shortly before the school year begins, the St. Clair County Health Department reminded families that it provides vaccinations to children between the ages of 2 months and 19 years.
Immunization services are available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The department can also provide immunizations in the evening.
“The important thing about immunizations is that they protect the whole community from several contagious diseases that are preventable,” said Cathy Stein, the health systems and services nursing manager for the St. Clair County Health Department, in a news release.
Some schools require children have all vaccines, according to the release. The Health Department recommended parents check with their children’s schools about which immunizations they need.
Appointments with the Health Department can be made by calling 618-233-6170. The department asks for minimal fees, but it does not deny anyone if they can’t pay.
Officials ask that parents bring their children’s immunization records to their appointments.
