Southern Illinois travelers planning to get an early start to Missouri for Labor Day weekend may have to adjust their routes.
The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to close two miles of westbound Interstate 44 between Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge and where I-44 splits from Interstate 55, the agency said.
Weather permitting, crews are closing the interstate to remove barrier wall and restripe lanes after completing work on the construction project on westbound I-44/southbound I-55 over 3rd Street, MoDOT said.
The closure, taking place at the start of the Labor Day weekend, is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Friday, with lanes reopening by noon Saturday.
Never miss a local story.
