The University of Illinois was the top choice of schools for 2017’s graduating seniors who took the ACT, according to the testing company.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was 11th on the list, just beating the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Some 4,144 students made SIUE their top preference of colleges at the time of testing, with 33 percent of those students scoring between 20 and 23 on the test. Southern Illinois University Carbondale came in seventh, with some 5,000 students thinking of it for their future.
Northwestern, Purdue and the University of Michigan had the greatest percentages of students scoring a 33 and above on the test; with 16, 11 and 10 percent respectively.
Nearly 135,000 students took the test in Illinois.
SIUE had been climbing since 2013 as a choice for schools, rising from 12th that year to be ninth in 2016.
