A 27-year-old woman had a blood-alcohol level of 0.365 percent, more than four times the legal limit, when she was killed in a March 9 crash, Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn said Wednesday.
Christina Martinez, of Fairmont City, died when the car she was driving struck the Con-Agra building at West Broadway and West Williams Street in Alton. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Testing after her death showed she also had used cocaine.
Just before the fatal crash, Madison County Sheriff Robert Hertz said, Martinez had crashed into a car in Godfrey Township. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
Hertz said in March that Martinez left the scene at speeds topping 100 mph, and died in the second crash "two or three minutes after that first accident."
Martinez was a lifelong Fairmont City resident, attended Collinsville High School and worked as an esthetician at Massage Lux in Edwardsville.
