Metro-east residents on Friday will get at least a little break from the heat that has baked the area this week.
According to the National Weather Service, the high will peak at 89 Friday after making it into the mid 90s earlier this week.
The lower temperature comes with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms for the area. Otherwise skies are expected to be partly sunny and breezy.
This weekend, rain could also be a factor with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms during the day Saturday and a 40 percent chance in the evening.
A 30 percent chance of rain is in the forecast throughout the day and into the evening Sunday. The high Saturday is expected to be 91 and on Sunday it will be 90.
